Introduction to Anhui Provincial Library

   Anhui Provincial Library has collected a large number of precious historical and cultural classics in the course of running the library for a hundred years, especially in the collection of local documents of Anhui, which has formed a collection characteristic with strong regional culture. Up to 2022, there were more than 4.02 million volumes of literature in the collection, including 40,304 sections, 319,015 volumes of ancient thread-bound books. Among them, 33,134 volumes in 3,247 sections are in good edition and 132 precious ancient books were selected in the first six batches of the National List of Precious Ancient Books, which is one of the first batch of national key protection units of ancient books approved by the State Council. In the collection, there is also a special collection of Anhui celebrities such as Zhang Bojun. The total amount of digital resources reached 909.72 TB.

   The Anhui Branch of China's Digital Library, Anhui Provincial Branch of the National Cultural Information Resources Sharing Project and Anhui Ancient Books Protection Center are all located in the library, respectively undertaking the processing, collection and service of digital literature resources, technical training and resource construction of cultural information resources sharing projects, organizing the protection of ancient books in the whole province, and carrying out ancient books census registration, ancient books repair training and ancient books protection research. 18 branch libraries and 66 book service agencies have been set up throughout the province.

   There are currently 16 internal institutions in Anhui Provincial Library. There are 174 employees, of whom 96.5% have a college degree or above, and 47 are employed in senior professional and technical positions.

   Anhui Provincial Library has always adhered to the service tenet of " Service First, Reader First" and has not closed its pavilion on public holidays and legal holidays, opening to the outside world free of charge all year round and opening more than 70 hours a week. The library has 1500 reading seats, 1500 information points, 365 computers and 19 external service windows, which are integrated with document lending and reading. At present, there are more than 282,000 readers with certificates. Since 2006, the number of readers receiving and books lending has exceeded the million mark for many consecutive years, creating and maintaining high-quality service performance in Anhui library. While adhering to the traditional service, taking the opportunity of free opening to the outside world, taking " striving for excellence first" as the driving force, taking outstanding performance as the benchmark, constantly innovating service methods and expanding service content, and striving to create eight public cultural service brands such as " Xin 'an People's Lecture Hall" and strive to reflect the public library's requirement of serving the public " commonweal, basic, equal and convenient".
